Giacomo Puccini foundation

The Giacomo Puccini Foundation of Lucca, was established in 1972 by the City Council of Lucca at the instigation of Rita Dell’Anna Puccini, daughter-in-law of the composer, and then recognised by a Presidential Decree in 1976.
The most significant achievement was the creation in 1979, thanks to Rita Dell’Anna Puccini’s donation of the flat, furnishings, memorabilia and Puccini documents, of the Museo Casa natale di Giacomo Puccini in Corte San Lorenzo.
The main purpose of the Giacomo Puccini Foundation, as stated in article 3 of its Statute, is ‘the protection, conservation, management, promotion and valorisation of Puccini’s cultural heritage, whether owned or entrusted to it for use or on loan […]. For the realisation of its aims the Foundation may operate […] intervening in particular in the fields of scientific research, protection, conservation and valorisation of Puccini’s heritage, information, training and musical education.

Since 2005 the Foundation has been based in the Casermetta San Colombano, on the Mura Urbane.
The Casermetta houses the administrative offices of the Foundation and a conference room where events, conferences, exhibitions and educational activities are organised. The Foundation houses the

Centro studi Giacomo Puccini e il Centro studi Luigi Boccherini and a library collecting the book heritage of the three institutions.
